Barry Noonan RIP

A gentleman & a scholar.

This oft used phrase is rarely applied as aptly as in the case of Mr Barry Noonan who passed away yesterday, Friday 22nd September 2023.

Class of 1973, former Union president (2005, 2006) and an absolute stalwart of Union events for more years than anyone can remember and most recently at the Golf Dinner just 4 weeks ago where he held court and gave gentrified opinion on many matters.

Barry was a scholar - his knowledge of current affairs, politics and life in general was in abundance. He was afforded attentive ears by all that knew him whenever he was in their company. Witty and unwavering in his opinion on many matters and a great orator, yet he'd still listen if you had an opposite opinion, but rarely would have his mind changed. A true believer in his own knowledge.

Barry was a true gentleman - he had a great respect for people. It was a natural trait he possessed. He would not hear of negativity on anyone and would give you a positive trait on even the most scurrilous vagabond.  

He will be sadly missed by his wife Stephanie, his brother Neil and the wide CUS Union community.

May he rest in peace.
