CUS Pupils Starve Themselves!
CUS 6th year students have shown their commitment to the CUS
hamper fund by agreeing to fast for 24 hours. No mean feat for growing
teenagers!
The fast is from 8pm tonight through to 8pm tomorrow Fri 7th December.
I chatted to the coordinator Louise Lohan during the week and it was great to find out that the Hamper fund is driven by TY Students. They all take on various roles, one of which is keeping the accounts.
Every cent and food product is accounted for and nothing goes to waste.
They all fundraise e.g. the Cake Sale in liaison with the parents committee and fund-raising and fasting on Grafton Street
Past pupils, parents and our bus company help with distribution and the boys from the hamper committee go along to help.
It's very inclusive of all pupils and every cent raised is used to assist those in genuine need at this time of year with zero expenditure on admin and distribution.
As well as
food hampers to over 200 families, the Hamper fund also assists in purchasing
miscellaneous items such as a new cooker for a city centre soup kitchen,
assisting in heating bills for elderly people and one particularly good use is
the supply of food vouchers to 2 inner city schools so that they can operate
free breakfast clubs.
So as your
president, I’m asking you to dig deep and support one of the great traditions
of CUS and click the Hamper Fund Donation Button now.
