Frank Scott-Lennon RIP

Frank Scott-Lennon RIP
12 September 2021

It is with great sadness that we inform the CUS Past Pupil community of the passing of Frank Scott-Lennon this morning after his latest battle with cancer.

Frank was a stalwart of the union and arguably its greatest supporter and champion. His energy for the School, the Union and the overall Marist family had no limits and his support will be sorely missed.

The impact Frank had on the School and the Union will probably never be fully realised as so much of it was in the background. He was inspirational at every level and a conversation with him on any subject would have you enthralled. Frank was authentic, persuasive, impactful and had a boundless energy even as he continued his battle with cancer.

Frank was president of the Union 1991-1993, but he was also a mentor for the presidents that succeeded him and no matter what your query or what assistance you wanted, Frank was just a phone call away with the right advice.

The annual President’s Cup golf outing was his favourite event where he always ensured a strong Marist presence to contest the “Priests Prize” including when the golf coincided with the visit of Pope Francis to Dublin in 2018 – when asked how he got them to choose the golf over the visit of Pope Francis, Frank, with his wonderful dry wit, simply replied that the Union Golf was held just once a year and that the priests could see the Pope anytime they were in Rome.

The Funeral Mass is to take place at 11.30 o’clock on Wednesday (15th September) in the Church of St. Therese, Mount Merrion followed by private family cremation at Mount Jerome. For those who wish to follow the Mass online please go to the following link:
